WTA Hires Head of Global Sponsorship Sales, Seeks CEO for Asia-Pacific

The World Tennis Association (WTA) has announced to developments to their leadership structure as they bring Steve Tseng on-board as Head of Global Sponsorship Sales in a new position and revealed their search for the position of CEO for Asia-Pacific.
Stacey Allaster, WTA Chairman and CEO, said of the announcement: “I am excited for the strategic investment we are making in our senior management team. These two positions are vital for the continued growth and development of the WTA as we look to capitalize on the momentum we are seeing in women’s tennis. Steve brings an impeccable track record of generating new sponsorship opportunities across sports and entertainment. And along with the recruitment of our CEO of APAC, we are investing in dedicated resource in crucial business areas to drive future growth.”
The WTA is poised to continue its sponsorship success after gaining six new sponsors in the last three years. Tseng will assume his role at the WTA on 1 August at their St. Petersburg, Florida, headquarters, where he will report directly to Allaster.
Tseng joins the association from IMG, where he worked for 20 years and served as Senior Vice President of IMG’s US Business Development team. In this position Tseng oversaw IMG Consulting for the West Coast, managing the agency’s San Francisco office.
The WTA is also actively recruiting candidates for CEO for Asia-Pacific, where a record number of 23 events are being held in 2014 in addition to the launch of the WTA Championships the same year in Singapore.
Recruitment is being managed by London-based firm, Sports Recruitment International. The CEO for Asia-Pacific will also report to Allaster and will focus on capitalizing the growth of tennis in the region and seeking out new business opportunities.
Furthermore, Rory Renwick has been announced to join the sponsorship sales team on 8 August as Senior Director of Business Development EMEA, based out of London.
