Volvo Car Australia has been announced as the official vehicle of the Australian Open and the three year agreement will see them aligned with Australia’s most prestigious golf tournament extending upon their involvement with Rugby Union, The Australian Ballet and the Cure For Life Foundation.
Matt Braid, Managing Director, of Volvo Car Australia said the company was looking forward to again being associated with the Australian Open which will take place at The Lakes Golf Club in Sydney from November 10-13, 2011.
“As a luxury brand we viewed the opportunity to be the Official Vehicle for such a premium event as the perfect alignment for Volvo. In total we’ll supply 26 courtesy cars for the event from across our range with a focus on one of our newest models, the S60 sedan. The S60 sedan is a genuine competitor in the luxury market. We look forward to working with the PGA over the next three years to revitalise the Australian Open,” Braid said.
Volvo Car Australia joins a strong line up of sponsors eager to support the 2011 Australian Open that will feature global talent the likes of Tiger Woods, Adam Scott, Bubba Watson, Greg Norman, Dustin Johnson and Fred Couples.
Brian Thorburn, Chief Executive Officer of the PGA said Volvo’s increased association was testament to efforts invested in growing the Australian Open.
“Volvo Car Australia has supplied vehicles for the Australian Open for the last three years, however this new arrangement is a significant increase and investment on previous years,” said Thorburn.
“As the Official Vehicle of the Australian Open, we look forward to working with Volvo Car Australia as we see the alignment as a great fit between our values and vision.”
