June 6, 2013

Ukraine’s President Viktor Yanukovych has signed a decree on hosting the 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The decree was posted on the head of state’s website and the bid committee is to be headed by Deputy Prime Minister Oleksandr Vilkul.

Changes to the state social program for the development of sports and tourism infrastructure in Ukraine between 2011-22 are also due to be introduced in the next two months.

Infrastructure, capsule sports and tourist facilities will be built to international standards and disabled users will gain free access.

The news follows Oslo’s confirmation they will bid for the Games, which if successful, would mark the third time Norway has hosted the Winter Olympics.
