UBS Sponsors Jersey Regatta

The organisers of the combined yacht clubs’ Jersey Regatta have announced that the Island’s flagship sailing event is to be sponsored by UBS in 2013.

The fourteenth Regatta, held in September, saw well over one hundred boats competing in what was the most successful Regatta ever. In welcoming the new sponsor on board, Regatta chairman Bill Harris said: “The arrival of UBS on the Island’s sailing scene is an exciting development and one that is certain to see this leading Channel Islands event continue to flourish both locally and nationally. In picking up the baton, UBS is joining a distinguished list of companies that have provided brilliant support to the Regatta since 1999 when the Royal Channel Islands YC, St Helier YC and St Catherine’s SC joined forces to produce the first Jersey Regatta.”

Scheduled for 13th-15th September, the Jersey Regatta takes place off the south coast of the Island and is scheduled to provide three days of racing for cruiser, sportsboat, dayboat, sport catamaran and dinghy classes, coupled with a lively social programme ashore.  The Island’s sailing community will be out in force, with sailors aged from 8 to 80+, to pit their wits and sailing skills against competitors from the neighbouring Channel Islands, the UK and France.
