November 18, 2011
FC Barcelona President Sandro Rosell and International Olympic Committee Juan Antonio Samarach Jr have both been confirmed as participants in the fourth edition of the Global Sports Forum at the Palau de Congressos de Catalunya in Barcelona.
Organised by Havas Sport & Entertainment, the 2012 edition of the annual Forum, which is scheduled for March 7-9, 2012, will provide networking opportunities and workshops for the athletes, government institutions, right-holders, governing bodies and businesses from the sport industry in attendance.
“Next year is the 20th anniversary of the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and the FC Barcelona dream team winning the European Cup, so it is fitting to have two of Spain’s most influential sporting figures with us, as the Olympic Games come back to Europe once again for London 2012 and FC Barcelona are the European champions,” Global Sports Forum Barcelona general commissioner Lucien Boyer said.
“We are delighted to welcome Sandro Rosell and Juan Antonio Samaranch Jr to our fourth Global Sports Forum Barcelona and greatly anticipate their thoughts and insight into the future of the sports industry.”
The FC Barcelona president will be focusing on the subject of ‘Giving back; the role of philanthropy in sport’ and added: “The Global Sports Forum is one of those rare occasions when the entire sports community gathers together to exchange ideas and learn from each other’s expertise in order to move the sport forward. I’m delighted to have been asked to speak on what is an important topic for FC Barcelona, as giving something back to the fans and those that need it most are important elements of our club strategy.”
