September 28, 2011
One World Sports (OWS), North America’s leading Asian sports provider, has signed an exclusive deal with World Sport Group (WSG) to distribute the Australian A-League on a multi-media, multi-year basis in North America.
OWS will present two live football matches per week for the entire A-League season.
The Australian A-League and other top sports from Asia are on OWS, which is available on DISH Network.
The addition of the Australian A-League follows the success of OWS’ live and exclusive distribution of the Japan J-League, Korean K-League, China Super League and the 2011 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League, the region’s premier club competition.
Preston Bornman, Chief Operating Officer of OWS, said: “With the acquisition of the Australian A-League, OWS has now secured the four top professional football leagues in Asia. The acquisition of the A-League’s multi-platform rights is another example of our dedication to deliver Asia’s best football to U.S. sports fans on any device. With two live and exclusive games per week, our coverage of the Hyundai Australian A-League provides OWS live and exclusive professional football nearly 52 weeks a year.”
Mark Hardess, President, ASEAN and Australia, World Sport Group, said: “The Hyundai Australian A-League is a strong addition to OWS’ Asian football schedule. World Sport Group and One World Sports continue on our successful efforts to bring the top Asian football leagues and events to US fans.”
Launched in 2005, the Hyundai Australian A-League is the top professional football league in Australia and New Zealand, and is composed of 10 teams. The 2011-2012 Australian A-League season begins live on OWS October 8. The season concludes in April 2012 with each team playing 27 games.
