Floyd Mayweather v Conor McGregor set to smash boxing betting records
June 15, 2017
Betting company Ladbrokes are expecting the recently confirmed fight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor to break boxing betting records.
Both fighters announced via social media that the bout will go ahead on 26 August in Las Vegas.
Mayweather’s 2015 bout with Manny Pacquiao remains the biggest night in boxing the industry has ever seen in terms of amounts staked (roughly £25m), but the bookies reckon even more will be taken when Money and The Notorious step into the ring.
Ladbrokes have said they’ve already seen enough activity in the market to suggest this will comfortably be the biggest fight in betting history.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “The £20m we took as an industry in the buildup to the AJ v Klitschko fight came dangerously close to smashing records.
“But we’re forecasting double the amount of that figure to be staked by the time these two blockbuster names come to blows.”
