Position Summary:

This position is part of the WNBA Marketing team and will step in to lead the WNBA Content arm, which focuses on managing, distributing, and publishing content to the WNBA’s existing portfolio of social and digital product offerings, as well as driving strategy and managing new, long form and short form content pieces. Candidate will manage 3 direct reports who manage content-related product integrations for the WNBA’s direct to consumer content offerings on the WNBA’s suite of official digital products. The ideal candidate is an expert in product development from a content perspective with a demonstrated ability to craft a strategy that aligns our platforms to the larger creative direction. We’re looking for a team player who can work productively with their peers across the marketing org and with complementary functions beyond marketing.

You must thrive in a fast-paced work environment, be proactive, exhibit strong awareness of content monetization trends, sound work ethic with an aptitude for team collaboration and communication. The ideal candidate has their finger on the pulse of the WNBA and spends their free time immersing themselves in podcasts, message boards or consuming short and long form content about the WNBA.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Manage all content-related projects and product integrations on behalf of the content team Leads 
  • Write out the long form and short form content strategy, leaning into digital and streaming for player storytelling and increasing WNBA fandom 
  • Thoughtfully organize the WNBA stories and design ethos, presenting them in a compelling, fan-centric experience. 
  • Communicate content trends and industry shifts, including implications and recommendations, to internal and external partners and lead projects to stay on top of consumption/engagement trends 
  • Evaluate potential content partnerships across all content formats and lead/contribute to cross-functional evaluation to ensure the success of these partnerships. 
  • Manage 3 direct reports: Social Content Manager, Digital Content Manager, and Creative Content Strategist with an eye on building a team of the future 
  • Works with internal and partner content teams to stand-up sections of site & app around various tentpoles 
  • Able to clearly provide direction and feedback throughout integration process 
  • Trains WNBA personnel on new content publishing features & appropriate use cases 
  • Review and recommend home-grown feature implementations, as well as 3rd party integrations (mobile messaging, content creation and/or distribution tools, etc.) 
  • Collaborates with Product project management group to ensure development & launch timelines are met 
  • Develop market expertise through continuous focus on and knowledge of the competitive and market environment in each of the strategic priority markets

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • 7+ years prior experience working on content management, creation, and production 
  • Prior experience in content creation, development liaison, publishing, and distribution 
  • Must have led a team responsible for content strategy and publishing/programming digital products (website, mobile app) 
  • Can inspire continuous learning and curiosity in content presentation and consumption 
  • Capable of establishing benchmarks and metrics as performance indicators, all within a fast paced setting. 
  • Knowledge of basketball – the game, past and present – is recommended

Event Director – NBA (London)

Position Summary 

The NBA’s international offices work to carry out the league’s strategy of growing the game of basketball globally by hosting NBA events around the world, creating sponsorship opportunities for local businesses, developing merchandising strategies with regional licensees, selling international media packages, and overseeing international public and media relations. Based in London, this position will work across all business units on the design, planning, and implementation of NBA events throughout Europe & the Middle East.

Major Responsibilities 

  • Key contributor to the planning and execution of EME experiential events (i.e., basketball activities, hospitality events, fan festivals, concerts, etc.)
  • Lead the management of event budgets for specific event platforms including tracking all event costs, serving as primary contact for Finance team
  • Support Head of Fan Engagement & DTC – EME in working across various departments to develop new concepts to be monetized with focus on identifying opportunities within existing properties. The British Basketball Federation is seeking to appoint an individual with the necessary blend of skills and experience as Board Chair, to guide through a period of growth and development on the path to Paris 2024 and beyond.

The BBF runs GB Basketball in a federated model, under a board of management comprising of an Independent Chair, Independent Directors and representatives of the three member Home Country Associations (HCAs) of Basketball England, basketballscotland and Basketball Wales.

Acting as a driving force the Board Chair will provide the leadership and strategic oversight required to help develop key relationships with partners to gather the resources required to achieve the vision to create a world class elite basketball programme in Great Britain, and to support the overarching strategy for the growth of basketball in England, Scotland and Wales.

Senior Digital Manager (China) – NBA

The position will work with NBA China’s key Digital media partner to co-create unique NBA digital experiences, value added products and events, to promote NBA brand, drive NBA innovation and fans growth in China, while support partner’s membership system, user experience and business expansion.

The position will be responsible for design, manage and provide value added service, content and other products that can benefit NBA and partner’s memberships; Develop and execute co-branded campaigns to promote key initiates of the NBA and partners, with initiatives spanning across Content, Events, Digital Collectibles, Gaming, Merchandise and Youth Basketball, among others, utilizing the tools and assets from the NBA and partners.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES 

· Design and execute innovative value-added services to help partner and NBA membership growth; include but not limited to content, virtual product, digital collectibles, joint membership, merchandise, and O2O events etc.

· Work with in- and external stake holders to manage the full life cycle of NBA digital collectibles. Including requirements coordination, product design, marketing promotion, accomplishments and revenue tracking, marketing + channel effectiveness measurement and optimization, performance and opportunities evaluation etc.

· Develop campaigns in collaboration with NBA digital partner during key season tentpoles (Global Games, NBA Tip-Off, All-Star Weekend, Playoffs and Finals, Draft), to promote related products, initiatives and both side’s memberships.

· Identify new promotion channels and fan acquisition opportunities.

· Work closely with internal BUs to identify collaboration needs and define requirements on partner’s platforms. Assist in developing project plans and timelines.

Senior Partnership Sales Manager – NBA (EME)

About the job

The NBA are actively seeking a Senior Partnership Development Manager who will take a key role in the sponsorship sales process across EME at both a regional multi-market and national single market level.

The focus for the successful candidate will be on prospecting, pitching, negotiating and securing new marketing partners. The role is London based, with a hybrid working pattern, and likely to involve around three days in office each week and there will be regular European travel too.

The role would ideally suit someone from a Business Development, Partnership Sales background, ideally working in a major rightsholder / team / brand delivering forward thinking partnership deals.

Major Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a sales strategy for the NBA Europe Game as part of the overall EME new business strategy and ownership of the new business revenue targets associated with the event.
  • Develop and implement a sales strategy for regional sales categories and ownership of the revenue targets associated with these.
  • Prospect, target and sell tailored NBA partnerships to multinational and national companies in relation to the above, utilizing data and research as well as an extensive external personal network.
  • Consult with both multinational and national companies to determine their sales and marketing objectives as well as the strategic direction of their business, markets and competitors and create integrated marketing partnerships/programmes that will meet these objectives.
  • Creatively develop new commercial opportunities and initiatives that can be successfully taken to market which will include IP, media, promotional, and event-based assets
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders and senior decision makers at potential partners and agencies in the region
  • Work collaboratively with other internal NBA functions, both in this region and globally, to help develop rights packages that can successfully be taken to market.
  • Work with the other members of the EME Business Development team on shaping the regional strategy and proactively contribute to sales efforts in other EME markets as required.

Required Skills/Knowledge

  • Successful track record in international sales (preferably within the sports sector)
  • Strong understanding of the sponsorship market and a network of relationships across all sectors of the sponsorship landscape
  • A track record of securing sponsorship contracts for rights holders
  • Ability to develop creative solutions which will meet the objectives of prospective marketing partners
  • Strategic thinker – able to shape, develop and execute the strategy for a diverse region
  • Strong persuasive and negotiation skills
  • A credible communicator, adept at operating at Board/Senior Executive level and with excellent presentation skills
  • Commercially minded and results driven – ability to meet and exceed sales targets
  • Ability to work well within a matrix organization
  • Fluency in English. Additional languages such as French / Spanish would be helpful but not essential.
