Senior Commercial Content Manager

The Role

We are looking for a Senior Commercial Content Manager to be responsible for developing and executing strategic content initiatives that drive commercial returns and engagement for the club.

The role will oversee the creation of commercial content, the subunit’s operating model, as well as distribution to our 3rd party media partners.

Through close collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders, the role will ensure we create and distribute high-quality, value adding, content that aligns with our brand.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a cross-functional sub-unit that drives direct and indirect value for the organisation through content creation and media rights.
  • Develop the club’s commercial content strategy and operating model, ensuring it’s aligned with business objectives and existing content and brand strategies.
  • Lead of the creation of partner content, overseeing internal teams and external vendors on production, as well as working with wider Content counterparts on distribution.
  • Drive direct revenue generation through media rights and other sources across digital and broadcast environments.
  • Work collaboratively with the Brand and Marketing teams to ensure best-in-class execution of partner inventory, in line with the club’s positioning and tone of voice.
  • Support Commercial teams across the full lifecycle of our partners, delivering value-adding propositions that meet strategic objectives.
  • Oversee and manage the budget for Commercial Content sub-unit, including all P&L for partner and media rights activities.
  • Work closely with all Commercial stakeholder groups, including Partner Services, Partner Development, Commercial Ventures, and Business Strategy to support commercial objectives and activations.
  • Lead, inspire, and coach, identifying learning and development opportunities and succession planning support. Fostering a high-performance culture, acknowledging achievements, and managing performance effectively, while overseeing recruitment needs.
  • Provide positive leadership, role modelling the True Gunner model and supporting the Content and broader Commercial strategy, encouraging the team to do the same.
  • Actively maintain Continuous Professional Development (CPD), through the club’s internal programmes, attending external workshops, and training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills.
  • Oversee the development of performance reporting for content and activation, whilst using it to enable and support data driven decision-making.

Key Qualifications:

Experience and Background:

  • Experienced in the development of content and media strategies that generate direct revenues and media value.
  • Strategic experience in global media distribution and exploitation of rights.
  • Able to demonstrate a proven track record of leading the delivery of best-in-class commercial output for high-profile brands and/or rightsholders.
  • Background in an agency or client-side role, preferably with some level of the sports and/or media industry involvement.
  • Line management experience, not only able to deliver results as a team but able to lead and empower individuals to succeed and grow in their career.
  • Thorough understanding and experience of the production process, involved in complex shoots that include high-profile protagonists.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficient in project management tools, as well as value benchmarking and analytics platforms.
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the digital environment, an expert in content innovation, digital platforms, commercial activation.
