The Chicago Bulls are building a future-looking marketing capability that applies a combination of data, technology, community and creativity to drive fan development and support organizational growth. The Marketing group is made up of four teams – Integrated Marketing, Digital Marketing, Product and Brand & Fan Development. The Product Director will be the lead for the Product team and will be responsible for ensuring that the Bulls’ digital products offer fans extraordinary experiences while helping drive progress against our business objectives.We are seeking a highly motivated, analytical, strategic, and innovative Director to join our Product team, tasked with leading all aspects of our efforts to build outstanding owned products that support both our marketing & revenue functions.In this role, you will lead a small product team while collaborating with employees from a number of different teams. Your day-to-day responsibilities will focus on driving our owned product strategy – namely Bulls.com and our mobile application – but you will also have a voice in other fan-facing technology conversations.The right candidate will blend being both passionate about product but also sports – and will have a strong understanding of how high-quality products can be highly impactful for a sports organization.Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a product strategy (primarily Bulls.com and our mobile application) that blends building strong fan experiences with driving progress against organizational priorities
- Develop annual objectives for the team and report back on progress on an on-going basis
- Build short- & long-term roadmaps that keep our products evolving and give the organization transparency into where we’re heading and various project schedules
- Take ownership of driving adoption of our products and priority/ new features
- Oversee the measurement of the success of features, content, and events and ensure we’re optimizing their performance through testing iteration
- Develop platform specific critical metrics and collaborate with our Business Strategy & Analytics team to create dashboards to show performance
- Champion building strong user-experiences across all our digital touchpoints
- Understand and emphasize the importance of integrating user data from the products into the Bulls broader technology stack
- Build relationships across the organization to understand where our product strategy can support departmental objectives
- Build strong relationships with the NBA and our app developer to understand opportunities coming down the pipeline and influence future priorities
- Constantly be driving innovation within our products to create new & impactful fan experiences, including ensuring that we’re getting fan feedback on our products
- Always be looking for ways to make our products more efficient or have a greater impact on our business
- Regularly monitor & evaluate external technology vendors who are looking to innovate on the fan experience
- Lead a team of three, helping prioritize high-impact work and developing the individuals as employees.
Skills, Experience And Qualification RequirementsThe right candidate will offer strong product expertise but will also likely be a sports fan too – as it’s meaningful to be able to look through the product lens from a fan’s perspective.
- A bachelor’s degree is advantageous, but not required. Priority will be given to candidates with strong work experience and ability to reflect the rest of the requirements
- Consistent track record over multiple years of driving product strategy & adoption
- Proven track record of managing & developing team members
- Ability to interact with individuals from the top to the bottom of an organization
- Experience as an innovative thinker, able to conceptualize new ideas and then bring them to life
- Being a critical thinker, a problem solver & having strong attention to detail are all crucial traits
- Strong communicator, with good presentation skills
- Comfortable looking at data and able to pull insights from data with ease
- Comfortable with servant-based leadership – this will be a hands on role given the size of the team
