Lviv City Council Votes in Favour of 2022 Winter Olympics Bid

Lviv’s city council has voted in favour of a proposed bid to host the 2020 Winter Olympic Games.
The bid will need to be approved by Ukraine’s national Olympic committee before going further. The committee meets on November 5th in Kiev.
The committee President, Sergei Bubka, said in a statement that the bid is a “national priority project and the whole of Ukraine will join efforts behind our bid”.
Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyy said it is a “great opportunity and a huge responsibility for our city”.
Other potential bid candiates are: Almaty (Kazakhstan), Munich (Germany), Oslo (Norway) and a joint bid from Poland-Slovakia.
