Liverpool Football Club Fail In Trademark Bid
September 27, 2019
Liverpool Football Club have failed in a bid to trademark the name ‘Liverpool’ in their products, after the attempt was rejected by the Intellectual Property Office.
Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur had previously been successful with their own attempts, but Liverpool’s failure was in part down to the ‘geographical significance’ of the city’s name.
Peter Moore, Liverpool’s Chief Executive said: “Our application was put forward in good faith and with the sole aim of protecting and furthering the best interests of the club and its supporters. Nevertheless, we accept the decision and the spirit in which it has been made.”
