Sports marketing company Infront Sports & Media, the exclusive media rights partner to the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV), has secured a deal with Sport1 GmbH which has seen them acquire the broadcast rights to the 2015 CEV Women’s European Volleyball Championship.
The championships will be held in Belgium and the Netherlands from 26 September until 4 October 2015.
The agreement provides the broadcaster with exclusive platform-neutral rights in Germany including live, delayed and highlights coverage across all TV, online and mobile platforms.
SPORT1 will show all matches of the German national team, accompanied by coverage on its online and mobile platforms. In addition, selected key matches across the competition will be broadcast.
As well as exclusive rights in Germany – the broadcaster will air programming across other German speaking territories on a non-exclusive basis including Austria, Switzerland and Luxembourg on both SPORT1 and SPORT1+.
Olaf Schroeder, Chairman of the Management at SPORT1, said: “Margareta Kozuch & Co. have inspired the audience at the home European Championship, which resulted in TV ratings of up to one million viewers in Germany.
“After the World Championship, the squad aims to be back on the track to success: I’m sure that the national team will take off again at the European Championship so close to home!”
Stephan Herth, Executive Director Summer Sports at Infront, said: “The German national women’s volleyball team has fascinated people all across the country with its remarkable play into the finals last year.
“With the SPORT1 agreement, German fans are now guaranteed comprehensive coverage, building upon the strong audience figures of the latest edition.
“As we have continuously invested in the television product for the CEV events, SPORT1 will be provided with a high-quality HDTV signal, produced with more than 10 cameras for each match.”
