IAAF World Indoor Championships Birmingham 2018 has announced EFM Global Logistics as a national supplier for the March event.
As part of the partnership, EFM’s role will involve customs clearance, baggage and equipment handling, transportation, freight forwarding and integrated logistical support to the IAAF World Indoor Championships Birmingham 2018, its partners, sponsors, suppliers, media and athletes.
Prior to this, EFM worked with IAAF World Championships and World Para Athletics Championships in London and the Rugby League World Cup in Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.
The championship will be held at Arena Birmingham from 1 to 4 March. It is jointly organised by Birmingham City Council and British Athletics on behalf of the IAAF.
Championships director, Joan Durose, said: “Managing logistics is a vital, often unseen, element of delivering a successful major event. With more than 500 athletes from 150 countries expected to come to Birmingham for the Championships, as well as hundreds of coaches, officials and associated equipment, it is crucial that we have a smooth operation.
“We are therefore delighted to have secured EFM, with their wide experience and expertise, and we look forward to working with them to ensure the efficient running of the Championships.”
Lisa Ryan, EFM’s group chief commercial officer, said: “We’re delighted to support the IAAF World Indoor Championships in delivering a world class event to a global audience, with our appointment as a National Supplier.
“It is very exciting for our team to be involved in this prestigious sporting event and we bring along our extensive major sporting event experience, which will ensure a smooth running logistical operation for all concerned.”
