Goodwood Festival of Speed Rescheduled to Avoid German GP Clash
December 7, 2012
Goodwood Festival of Speed have announced that they are to change the dates of the event from July 5-7 in order to avoid a clash with the rescheduled German Grand Prix.
The FIA announced on Wednesday that it was bringing the German Grand Prix forward a week to July 7 and also creating a slot in Formula 1’s calendar for another as-yet unconfirmed European race.
The Festival of Speed, which takes place annually at Lord March’s estate in Sussex, draws a number of F1 drivers and teams. New dates have yet to be announced.
A statement on the event’s website read: “Due to the FIA unexpectedly announcing a further change to the 2013 F1 calendar, the German Grand Prix will now take place on 5-7 July, the same weekend on which the Goodwood Festival of Speed was scheduled.
“Given that the Festival of Speed is the only event in the world outside of a World Championship Grand Prix where you can get a close up view of the latest F1 cars and drivers in action, we will now have to change the Festival’s date in order to avoid this conflict with the amended Grand Prix calendar.
“Goodwood is now reviewing the 2013 Festival of Speed dates and will confirm these very soon.”
Organisers also confirmed that tickets already purchased will be valid for the new dates.
