Glasgow 2014 Announces New Partnership with ScotRail

Glasgow 2014 and the main train operating company in Scotland, cheap ScotRail have announced a new partnership.
ScotRail who currently operate on 95% of Scotland’s Railway and are part of the Aberdeen-based FirstGroup were an original supporter of the bid to bring the Games to Scotland and have been planning for the games for more than two years.
The train operator, who have also become an Official Supporter of Team Scotland, will try to bring a high number of spectators to the 2014 Games by increasing their train capacity on long distance trains.
Furthermore ScotRail will also deliver an enhanced Games timetable of high frequency services on key routes across the city, delivering large numbers of spectators to major venues and associated events.
The full timetable of the Games is set to be announced this spring and accompanied with the new train operating partnership will hope to bring in more than one million passenger journeys over the 11 days of the Games.
Commonwealth Games Minister Shona Robison said: “I am pleased to welcome ScotRail to the growing Games family of sponsors committed to delivering the best ever Commonwealth Games. The extra train services planned and specialist training for staff will give spectators and visitors a great service and a warm welcome, helping people enjoy the Games experience.”
