FIFA Extend Sanctions Against Match Fixing Officials
June 25, 2013
FIFA has extended the sanctions imposed by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) against two Lebanese match officials to make the bans worldwide.
The charges against assistant referees Ali Eid and Abdallah Taleb relate to ‘match-manipulation’ and provisionally banned them from all football-related activities until the AFC Disciplinary Committee reached a decision regarding the officials who attempted to manipulate an AFC Cup match in April.
The chairman of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee has extended the sanctions to have worldwide effect in accordance with article 78 paragraph 1(c) and article 136ff of the FIFA Disciplinary Code.
