As a P&G ambassador, Taylor will work on the company’s Irish marketing activities alongside her mum Bridget as they both become part of the P&G Proud Sponsor of Mums campaign, which puts the focus on mums by recognising, celebrating and thanking them for the important roles they play in their families’ lives.

Taylor, the reigning International Boxing Association (AIBA) World Female Boxer of the Year, is looking forward to working as part of the Proud Sponsor of Mums campaign as it is something that means a lot to her.

“I was delighted to be asked by P&G to be part of their campaign,” said the 25-year-old from County Wicklow who boxes in the lightweight category. I am very close to my family and P&G’s campaign keeps families at its core and that’s important to me. I’m really looking forward to working on all aspects of the campaign.”

As well as her three amateur world titles, Taylor has five amateur European gold medals and is a strong favourite to win gold in the 60kg weight category at London 2012 when women’s boxing makes its debut at the Olympics.

Roisin Donnelly, the marketing director for P&G UK and Ireland, said: “For more than 80 years in Ireland, Mum has been our boss. Mums have driven our product innovation and our marketing communication and it’s for this reason we’re putting Katie and her mum at the heart of this campaign.”

The Proud Sponsor of Mums campaign will feature throughout P&G’s sponsorship of the London 2012 Olympic Games.

P&G’s Olympic Games partnership is far and way the most ambitious in Olympic history, beginning with London 2012 and incorporating Sochi 2014, Rio 2016 and the 2018 and 2020 Olympic Games.
