England Hockey appoints agency Promote PR for Women’s World Cup

March 23, 2018

England Hockey has appointed agency Promote PR to support this summer’s Vitality Hockey Women’s World Cup taking place in London from 21 July to 5 August 2018.

Promote’s remit will focus on maximising visibility and enhancing perceptions of the sport, especially amongst parents of children that play, as well as the wider general public, via an integrated communications campaign that celebrates the importance of supportive role models in achieving sporting success.

Craig Mortimer-Zhika, Communications Manager at England Hockey said: “With over 80,000 tickets already purchased for the Vitality Women’s World Cup, and the three England pool games, Quarter Final, Semi Final and Final already sold out, this is the world’s biggest standalone women’s hockey event. It is our strategic mission to leverage hosting the event on home soil to enhance the public perception of hockey across the country.”

“It became obvious during the competitive pitch process that Promote PR were the stand-out agency. They presented a compelling, creative campaign for our target audiences. This, coupled with their vast experience of delivering highly effective activity for other sports NGBs and organisations, made them the perfect partner to help us achieve our ambition.”

Promote PR’s Managing Director, Nasima Hussain said: “The number of young girls playing hockey has doubled since just prior to London 2012. With the GB women’s team winning gold at Rio 2016, and now the world’s biggest hockey tournament taking place here, the sport’s growth looks set to continue in 2018 and beyond.

“We’re thrilled to be appointed by England Hockey and very much look forward to helping the team at such an exciting time for the sport.”
