Confederations Cup Earns Big TV Audiences for Opening Rounds

The Confederations Cup has attracted a large worldwide television audience despite the continued protests and unrest that have plagued the tournament in Brazil.

An increase in viewers occurred in markets including Japan and Spain, medicine as well as Germany and England who do not have a team in the competition.

FIFA claim that 40 million viewers in ten key markets tuned in for Brazil’s 2-0 victory over Mexico on July 19, anesthetist underlining FIFA’s attempt to turn the tournament into more than just a World Cup dress-rehearsal.

On Fuji TV in Japan, medstore 8.7 million viewers tuned in to watch the national team lose in 4-3 thriller against Italy – a 70% increase on their opening fixtures.

RAI Uno in Italy accounted for over half of Wednesday’s Italian television audience during the Japan game, achieving an audience of 4.8 million.

Over 26 million people in Brazil watched the host nation beat Mexico.
