Job Purpose

• To act as Joint Programme Leader for the collaborative degree programme.
• Contribute to curriculum development and support the wider learning pathway development across the WHU Foundation.
• The post holder will be expected to prepare teaching material as required for the allocated teaching contact hours and to conduct any related assessment in accordance to quality standards. 
• Support the recruitment of new students and raise awareness of the degree programme
• To contribute to the wider development of the WHU Foundation and education department.

Key Responsibilities:

• To design, prepare and develop teaching materials for the Applied Community Sport degree programme, across modules at undergraduate level.
• To manage module delivery and deliver lectures, seminars, tutorials and other supervisory duties when needed.
• To develop and deliver appropriate strategies to facilitate and support students in learning activities.
• To undertake university, WHU Foundation and module administrative duties in consultation with the Joint UEL Programme Leader where necessary.
• To support students throughout their programme- both academically and as a personal tutor.
• To keep up to date on the subject area and relevant policy and research developments.
• To undertake professional development by participating in staff development (CPD) and training activities
• To engage and lead in educational practice that promotes effective learning and the development of attributes that sustain lifelong learning and employability.
• Understand and adhere to safeguarding policies and procedures, especially linking to student placements.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have skills and experience in the following areas: -

Education/Qualifications/Training:

• Educated to Masters Level Degree, in a related discipline - Essential

Specific Experience

• Experience of partnership working and understanding of the wider community sport/sport development sector.
• Experience in delivering within Further and/or Higher Education – Essential. 
• Sound understanding of the Higher Education sector.
• Good theoretical knowledge base within the sport related curriculum area.
• Experience managing student placements - Highly Desirable.

Abilities/Skills/Knowledge:

• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Proven ability to work independently and make decisions.
• Excellent IT, communication and presentation skills, willing to undergo training with University platforms such as ‘Moodle’.
• Ability to take the initiative, work with others, monitor own work programme and proactively meet deadlines.
• A strong commitment to widening participation and a clear understanding of how to bring out the best in students from diverse backgrounds. 
• An inspirational teacher who collaborates well with colleagues and students to achieve the best possible outcomes for students.
• A strong commitment to high quality, reflective and collaborative professional practice in teaching and learning in Higher Education.
